Mile End Group Assitant Applications 2009-10.

Applications are now invited for the role of Mile End Group Assistant, 2009-10, sponsored by HP-EDS. There will be three awards of fee payment on QM’s MA in 20th Century British History (the dissertation component must be in a Whitehall-related area) plus bursary of £2,600. The roles entail working on a part-time basis for the MEG to the Executive Director.

All MEGAs are expected to be on duty for the various MEG events, many of which will be held during an evening. At these events, MEGAs will in effect run them, ensuring their smooth delivery.

In addition to this, there will be three distinct roles with respective responsibilities:

  1. That of communications MEGA: this will involve liaising with the various elements of QM which handle media relations; the inviting of specific VIPs to events; assisting in the delivery of the new MEG newsletter.
  2. The events co-ordinator MEGA: this will entail liaison with the various elements of QM which handle events; the booking of venues and hospitality; overall responsibility for the MEG events.
  3. Website and filming MEGA: this will require liaison with the various elements of QM which deal with computer services; the filming of MEG events and VIPs on ‘The Blair Government’ course; assisting the delivery of an up-to-date MEG website.

The ideal candidates will be those having completed a good degree in contemporary British history and also those demonstrating strong presentational and interpersonal skills – after all, these are sponsored by business.
